The Rennell and Bellona Constituency has initiated a phased road improvement program to enhance infrastructure, boost tourism, and support agriculture.
Phase 1: East Rennell Road (Feb-July 2025)
A 16-kilometer stretch from Lughu to Bilaveia is being repaired using Constituency Development Funds. The project, launched in February 2025, aims to improve road safety and accessibility, benefiting both residents and visitors.
Phase 2: Repair of Lavagu Port road access (May-June 2025)
Phase 3: West Rennell Road (June-Sep 2025)
Plans are in place to improve the West Rennell road, aiming to enhance connectivity and support regional development.
Phase 4: Bellona Road and Feeder Roads (Oct-Feb 2026)
Efforts are underway to rehabilitate Bellona Island’s main road and its feeder roads. These upgrades are expected to facilitate better access to agricultural areas, desalination plants and support the local economy.
These infrastructure enhancements are pivotal in opening up tourism access and facilitating agricultural activities, thereby contributing to the overall development of the constituency.
